Golden Princess has remained at the anchorage at Akaroa today with guests staying on board to enable New Zealand health authorities to conduct a precautionary health test on a guest who had travelled to Australia on an international flight from Los Angeles and on which a passenger had subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
The Golden Princess guest had reported experiencing respiratory symptoms prompting the test requirement. The test returned a NEGATIVE result. Golden Princess was cleared to depart Akaroa from where it will sail directly to Australia. We have also apologised to guests that this means that the remainder of their New Zealand itinerary has been cancelled.
Golden Princess had departed from its Melbourne home port on March 10 and was to have completed a 13-night New Zealand itinerary.
